To clarify the true need for the Public’s private consideration of such prudent and practical proposals, here are the opening words from Thomas Paine’s revolutionary pamphlet, Common Sense (February 1776).
The historic pamphlet that George Washington credited with focusing the English colonists on the need for, as Paine wrote therein, “a declaration of independence”,
"Perhaps the sentiments contained in the following pages, are not YET sufficiently fashionable to procure them general favour; a long habit of not thinking a thing WRONG, gives it a superficial appearance of being RIGHT, and raises at first a formidable outcry in defense of custom. But the tumult soon subsides."

To any of us that think we will be leaving our planet Earth for some to-be-found inhabitable planet -- that would be at least one (1) Light Year (LY) away -- not in our lifetime, folks.
How Far is it to the Planet Mars – Today’s Space Speed and Our Lack Thereof
Just for fun??
I have always wondered about the size of space and the speed-of-light. The speed-of-light in the vacuum of space is 186,282 miles per second.
And in that Light Year it travels some 5,865,696,000,000 miles.
Yes, 5 trillion miles. Thus, every star we see in the sky is AT LEAST 1 Light Year apart. That is a lot of wasted space...
An Informative and Sobering Speed-of-Light Example
On average it is 140,000,000 miles from planet Earth to Mars. The distance varies depending on where the planets are in their orbits.
At current space speed levels, it would take us 128 to 333 days to travel from planet Erath to Mars. The variance again is caused by the orbital paths of both planets.
It would take approximately 12.5 minutes to travel from planet Earth to Mars at the speed-of-light.
In other words, we have a lot of work to do relative to speed in space.
At our maximum “space speed” today to reach a planet just one Light Year away, it would us about 50,000 years. Yes, 50,000 years, folks…
We will not be going anywhere soon. So, we had better take care of our planet NOW!
The Republican Party could not care less about it.
By the way, I like watching Ancient Aliens.
Take care everyone, A J Wildman
